Wiener Dog Races, Chicken Hats and More!

So I’ve been in Cincinnati for the last few days, and DANG, do I ever have a lot to tell you about it! I’m heading home today, so I should be getting a post together soon…

I’m officially in love with this city– why didn’t any of you ever tell me how cool it was?!

I was there a little over a year ago and the city does rock !! Truly sorry I forgot to mention it when I called you afterwards = / Looking forward to the Cincy post, though !! = )

And LB, regarding your Lingonberry being the new super fruit in the States now Say it!, the fruit, or berry, that has taken Finland by storm the last few years has been the cranberry !! Both are quite similar to each other, so I wonder if it’s a case of ‘the grass is greener’ kinda thing, or ‘the berry is redder’ ??

Cininnati is a great town—–lots to do and see. It’s deceiving though—-there is so much industrial “yuck” as you drive around the city on the interstate you’d never believe it has a cultural side too, and a lovely downtown area. I thought Cleveland was like that too. Can’t wait for your next blog post about your trip!

Well, jonny, that’s interesting that the cranberry is popular in Finland now, and the ligonberry is growing in popularity here. Both are very high in antioxyidants, but they say ligonberries have more flavor and color. I don’t think it’s a “grass is greener” thing. In Finland, it’s probably a good marketing promotion. Here, the ligonberry’s popularity is probably summed up in two words—–Doctor Oz! When Dr. Oz speaks, Americans run to the health food store! And I’m one of them. BTW, want a food even higher than those berries in antioxyidants? Plain old ordinary beans! And that includes the cocoa bean! And the coffee bean! But they aren’t nearly as exotic and hard to find out of season as beans!

See, Tori, you gotta get back and tend to your blog or we degenerate into berry and bean discussions!

Actually, the cranberry ‘take over’ was an un-expected one from what some friends who work in bars told me. Apparently, when Ocean Spray brought the juice over, a few bars ordered up so they could offer drinks they couldn’t before. Within weeks, months latest, all those going to bars wanted something with cranberry juice in it –especially the women– and BINGO; Finnish juice/drink companies started making their own and the rest is berry history !!

Myself, I’m a firm believer in pomegranates, and pomegranate juice. Although, pure cranberry juice is a close second !! = )

I’ve decided the least confusing thing for me to do is pray that you have an uncle somewhere who is going to leave you a million dollars…or two, sweet Tori. Otherwise, I don’t quite see how you are going to buy and maintain a city place and a country place….as well as one on the lake and another in the islands. And somehow I can’t quite picture Meemaw as a member of the jet set. Well…maybe if you get her the right hat.

Cincy is a great town! I spent 2 years working in an office building shown on your picture. Great food!- I miss the Chilly! Hyde Park and Mount Adams are awesome neighborhoods. The people are very nice. Another great post-industrial city is Pittsburgh. It is not what you think. I would encourage a visit.

Not too long after I became part of the community here, a bit of a discussion came up concerning the ‘bent reed’ verse from the Old Testament. Well, came across an interesting one yesterday taken from the same verse. I have no idea where that old conversation is, so thought I’d just Say it! it here —

“The old reeds were used to make wonderful musical instruments, and instead of crushing out the life that is bruised and wrong, God heals it and discourses sweet music through it.”

Cool! That’s what He does alright!

Trueness. Too bad I can’t put it in context with the wonderful things that were brought up back then concerning this verse, but have to trust leaving it here now will serve its continued, and good, purpose = )

Nice one jonny I like that.
Hope Russ gets well soon, Tori, give him our love.

Thanks, Betty ! And, yep, prayers for Russ being in good health and stuff for Friday’s show still being proffered = )

Oh my goodness, I didn’t know Russ was ill. Holding him close in my prayers.

Momma Lloyd– He’s just fine, feels SO much better since he got that pesky gall bladder out! He’s been living in a constant state of nausea for months, so this has been a great relief to him.

I came back here in hopes there would be a medical report on my favorite singer….thank you so much. Please give me a hug from me.

Let’s try that again: Please give him a hug from me.

    Love you guys.

Sorry for not sharing, those of us who were born and raised in Cincinnati – the “Queen City” tend to take our good fortune for granted; it is indeed a very special place to live or visit.
