Pickled beet cream cheese and pistachio sandwiches and stuffed sliced yellow tomatoes. With a parsley garnish. And cream of asparagus soup. LOL Anyway, that’s my guess.

  2. LindaB

OR……turnips? Sliced and filled with something like cream cheese something or other?

  3. Gramma Jac

No, I think beets–but regular ones and yellow beets.

  4. Phyllis S

Have not a clue. We do not eat weird stuff like that in south Louisiana! But then again if it has cream cheese, it has to be good.

Gracious, I can’t see what things are even when I know what they are….but it sure looks good to me! Gotta ‘nether chair around?

  6. LindaB

Phyllis, you don’t eat weird stuff down there in Louisiana???? BA HA HA HA HA HA!!! If it ain’t hot as blazes, or crawled out of the swamp, or would bite your head off if it wasn’t dead, you folks wouldn’t eat it!

Aren’t you the one who brought some kind of alligator dish to Gaither Fest one year? You are too funny!

  7. auburn60

Roasted red and yellow beets with goat cheese and lemon-tarragon vinaigrette dressing.

    What do I win?

  8. meb

Beets and yukon gold potatoes with goat cheese, walnuts and parsley. And a mustard vinaigrette on the side.

Phyllis – looking forward to eating some Louisiana food in a couple of weeks. Yum!!

  9. MostlySunny

Beets and potato sandwichy-things and cream of chicken soup or chicken gumbo!

LindaB – Yea, I’m laughing at Phyllis, too!

  10. LindaB

I’m sure I see pistachio nuts in there!

And Alyson, goat cheese is a good guess! You just might win!

I’m waiting on pins and needles…

  12. LindaB

    Me too!!!!

    Is anyone else hungry?!?!?

LindaB, excuse me, but hot as blazes, or crawled out of the swamp, or would bite your head off if it wasn’t dead is NOT weird stuff, just everyday fare, just watch “Swamp People” and you would know that. (hehehehehe). My boys think it is funny for Mom to wake up with one in her bed, remember.

Yes, I did take alligator, crawfish and shrimp to Gaither Fest and cook and I think it was a big hit, but then again you were not there that year. (We did miss ya, much).

meb I hope you enjoy our food as much as we do.

OK, Tori, so what is the red and yellow STUFF?

  15. LindaB

Phyllis Dear, I’ll NEVER forget the story of your sons putting the alligator in your bed! You are such a good sport—–where I would have taken those boys straight to a foster home! LOL

Oh my goodness, y’all leave Phyllis alone now ’cause what she brought to Myrtle Beach two years ago was plum delicious. If you don’t believe me, ask Madi and Russ.

And, Linda, I do remember that Phyllis’ sons put an allegator in bed with her; she turned over in bed thinking she was throwing her arm around her husband….who was out of the bed standing with those onery boys and watching it all. Phyllis dear, when we come to visit, we “girls” have decided to sleep at the motel and visit you in the daytime.

Until Phyllis’ story came along, I thought Linda’s was the most entertaining. In the middle of the night her husband got up to go to the bathroom so she made the bed and hid in the closet. Poor fella didn’t know whether to get back in bed or put on his clothes and go to work.

God has blessed me with a few interesting friends……gotta love ‘em.

[…] OK– Granted, they might win on presentation, but I gotta tell ya, my orange-tarragon sauce […]
