More Advanced Style…

As you can tell, I really am enamored of this blog– and this little video is such a great sampling of the personalities and attitudes that are regularly featured. See if you enjoy this as much as I did!

**EDITED TO ADD** Just wanted to throw in this quote by the creator of Advanced Style, Ari Seth Cohen:

“What I love about the ladies I photograph is that age has allowed them a renewed sense of freedom.Their rule, is that there are no rules. They dress for themselves and feel comfortable in their own skin. That’s not to say that they would all dye their hair pink or don eccentric accessories. They do what is right for them and wear what makes them feel good.As 80 year old Joyce says,” To age is a privilege”. I hope that the images I present are a reminder that we should never stop living life to the fullest and never stop having fun.”

Well, I don’t know how exactly how much you enjoyed it, but I liked it a lot! Those ladies are the kind of gals I’d like to have lunch with! Or live next door to! Or sit next to on a long plane trip. They are delightful! And COLORFUL!

They are delightful and inspiring. I reached a certain age and suddenly discovered jewelry–now they’re inspiring me beyond the jewelry! Brings back that lovely question of how we want to dress as time marches on!

Their discussion of age reminds me of that saying: Inside every old person is a young person wondering (I’ve also heard “screaming”) “What happened?!?!”

I actually like how this t-shirt said it! (I like the “bubble”–naughty, sorry!

Well I might not be as old as some of those ladies and I might not be into high fashion but I am the one who had her ears pierced for the first time for her 60th birthday!!

Linda B– Yeah, ‘colorful’ is definitely the operative word, here! My favorite quote is when that lady who wears men’s suits with brooches (!) carefully says that she doesn’t want to appear crazy– she wants to be chic, she also just wants to wear something that the average person in the street would NEVER wear (Unfortunately, I totally get that.)

Gramma Jac– Your comment (and that tee shirt) just officially gave me my first big laugh of the day– thanks!

    bettywoodward– Good for you!
