“Aw, you can be a single lady if you want…”

I have followed a blogger named Carlos Whittaker on Twitter for a while now. He is a worship leader and Director of Service Programming at Buckhead Church in Atlanta, and is also an artist with Integrity Music. I like reading his writings, he is a very authentic person, funny and real. He and his wife Heather have three children– their oldest son Losiah, was adopted from Seoul Korea in 2006– and they are great advocates for adoption.

So, here’s why I’m telling you all of this: Carlos posted a video on Twitter yesterday that made me laugh my face off– I actually brought my laptop to the dinner table last night to show it to Russ and the girls! It is such a  classic parenting moment, and it is just adorable. Well, a few minutes ago I found out that the video is now going viral, and there have been links to it from Perez Hilton’s gossip blog, as well as AOL.com. Carlos is actually going to be on Jimmy Kimmel and his entire family will be interviewed on the CBS Early Show. This thing is going everywhere!

I couldn’t wait to share it with you guys– my favorite parts are the parent’s overreaction, the middle daughter’s classic stink-eye and Carlos’ comment at the end… ENJOY!

Totally Random Friday: Evening Edition

So all of a sudden, in the last 24 hours, I am taking a quickie weekend trip to the Homecoming concert in Asheville, NC, which is why that lengthy, thought-provoking-possibly-Pulitzer-Prize-winning post I was *going to* write about college night at Madi’s school got delayed. (BTW– college night ? Is kinda disturbing.) But since I love you like crazy, I am going to attempt to cobble together a crappy delightfully spontaneous last-minute post about, um… OK, not sure yet, but let’s soldier on, shall we?

Let’s see, here’s something we can talk about– I think the light fixture/chandelier thingy in my bedroom is defunct. WEEKS ago when I turned it on it made a POP noise and then  a weird smell and it hasn’t worked since. And yes, I said weeks ago. Have I mentioned I am married to a musician? Here’s how handy Russ is: I say, “Hey Russ, our chandelier thingy made a POP noise and then a weird smell while you were gone last weekend and it hasn’t worked since.” And he goes, “Really? Huh. Wonder what that is. Maybe you ought to call somebody.” And I say, “I went to the fuse box and flipped everything, but it still didn’t come on. Do you think we need to like, replace the wall switch thingy or something?” (I am using technical terms here that the typical layman might not understand. Try to keep up.) And he says, “Yeah. Maybe.” Annnnnd nothing’s happened since. Luckily we have a lot of lamps in there. In a related note, does anybody know a good handyman in the greater Nashville area?

Hmmm, what else?… Wanna hear my to-do list for tonight? Because you know, I live the glamorous life of an international supermodel and all. OK, I’ve still got a load of laundry to do so I can pack my good underwear, then I need to change the fish tank because the water is getting a little greenish and the guppies are starting to look at me with disdain, then I need to see if our printer is working so I can print off my boarding pass, then I need to leave a note for Bridget the Wonder Sitter And Friend so that she knows where to take Charlotte for that birthday party she’s going to tomorrow AND she knows where to find the crapload of food I bought at Costco that ought to last them until I get home. And then I might get all crazy and shave my legs and paint my toenails because HOO-EEE I’m a girl and I’m leaving town for the weekend!

This is the only other thing I can possible think of to share with you guys… (And yes, I’ve been saving it for just such an occasion as this):

**A real photo of a real car (via a Twitter friend.) Apparently, the driver had some family issues as well as a wee bit of an axe to grind, and possibly needs to take some resentment management classes. She may not be the forgiving sort, but she CAN probably hook you up with some Skin So Soft.

Have a great weekend, and I’ll try to take lots of pictures in Asheville!
