As a lifetime Girl Scout I CAN WEAR GREEN HATS!?! Who knew?

Char has gorgeous hair and I always want to start braiding it and feeling the thickness of it and just playing with it like I used to do when my girls were little. And Charlotte always looks at me funny. She probably wears hats when I’m around so i won’t touch her hair.

I look like Little Orphan Annie in any hat, with my hair springing out in every direction. Sigh.

Good time of year to go. I haven’t been to San Juan in years but I recognized the blue cobble stones and the fort – Cristobal — didn’t look like El Moro. Love the hats. I have one exactly like Char’s.

My tour season starts in 2 weeks – so if any of you happen to be in Washington, DC and see a group of 7th & 8th graders tromping along the mall – it just might be me in the lead keeping them on schedule and wearing them out (so they don’t cause trouble at the hotel at night!). Will be busy thru June! I’ll be wearing Char’s hat!

I too look bad in hats–but I found one I liked and the rest of the Green Hatters liked.Then I sent my husband a photo of me in the hat–and he said I look like a bag lady!!!!!

BTW, remember my broken shoulder and months typing one-handed. It didn’t recover full mobility, so I had surgery yesterday–so am one-handed again!

I think hats started going out for men, or became less popular, in the 70’s when men stopped going to the barbers and had more expensive, stylish hair cuts in ‘beauty saloons’ !! They also started blow-drying their hair at that time for the fist time as well = /

Gracious, back in my day we wore hats to everything. They were the in-thing. Then the beehive hair style came along and hats went out. For the last year or two I believe they have been fighting their way back in….and I love ‘em. You and your girls wear them especially well….adorably so.

LindaB: I love hats because I have bad hair, Char loves them because she’s 15 and expressing herself and Russ rarely wears them because he has a head the size of a bowling ball. In a good way.
