Both look promising. Hopefully we’ll know something by early next week.

auburn60 – please tell your friend we are praying for her and her son too.

kidpyramid – please tell Joy we are praying for her continued recovery too. It sounds like she has a great attitude, which is half the battle.

He is her only child.

I don’t think I could breathe every day, knowing my son was in that situation. My friend is,and always has been, a woman of tremendous faith…and we go all the way back to college days so I know how strong she is. She says she knows he is covered in prayer and that is what has kept him safe so far.

And I don’t mean to be preachy either…but a big AMEN to kidpyramid. We have much to be grateful for.

Joy and her family can still use all the prayers they can get. She came to a jazzercise class last week in a wheelchair and told the teacher that she’s “built Ford tough”!

Tell your friend I’m praying for her son and her, will ya?

So, I’m planning a wonderful autumn–buying a new firepit for those cool nights roasting marsmallows and planning to REALLY decorating for Halloween this year.
Plus, there’s this: Tori’s back is really better (I have it on good authority that she’s getting her ‘stride’ back–as in, ‘Tori strides in a room and takes it over!’) And..I got an e-mail from my friend whose son is in Afghanistan and was ‘chosen’ (odd word) to go deeper into the fighting after experiencing several battles already. She won’t even hear from him for several weeks. He’s only 19 y.o.
So,I decided I have nothing to complain about. Nothing. Not at all.

Of course, it popped into my head when I read this blog – hot=summer=August.

It’s not as easy as it you’d think—-you have to do it right under the nose of your grandchild’s parent without giving away your true intentions.

Our 8 year old granddaughter, Chloe, came to me with a request for the latest Barbie doll recently. I told her no, I think SHE should find some way to make some money and then I’d take her to the store to buy it. She thought about it awhile and then asked me if she could borrow one of my Mason jars. I said yes, wondering what kind of money making project she’d come up with. She got a piece of paper and taped it to the jar and labeled it, “Tip money for Chloe”, and set it on the kitchen counter. I think she maybe missed my point. But…….she collected $27 in the jar from me and Grandpa in ONE WEEK, and I took her to the store and she bought TWO Barbies! So, I guess we missed the point too! But spoiling cannot be denied.

I just prayed for Joy, Pyramidkid. What an awful summer she had, but thankful for her life! And praying friends like you!

“They’ll never notice it on a galloping horse.” Barb, I LOVE THAT ONE!!!!! THANKS!

jonny, you got married and didn’t even tell your “former”??? I would have come and brought a gift even!

And TORI! Tell your wonderful parents HAPPY ANNIVERSARY FROM THE BLOOMR’S! 73 YEARS TOGETHER!!!! I wonder what they’d say if you asked them if they could have a “do over”, what would they do differently in their marriage? They obviously have a very very successful union! And I suspect they’d have some really good insights into how to make a marriage better. It would be interesting.

Gramma Jac, I’ve never had a “mijito”—–don’t even know what it is. Well, I know it’s a drink, but don’t know what’s in it. (Did I mention I was raised Baptist and live in Clio, Michigan?) But I would not be opposed to drinking one……or at least tasting it. Especially in celebrating something together with fellow Bloomr’s! You set it up!

tnmusicman, don’t ya hate that “look” the doctor gives you when he can’t give what-you-got a name? It’s like, he knows he has to give you a bill and charge you something just for you asking, he’s hoping you’ll pay it promptly and doesn’t want to make you mad, but he doesn’t know what to say. So, he makes up crap——-like…..it’s stress related. Or allergies. Or old age creepin’ up on ya. Or, and I hate this one,——if you lost some weight, it’d probably go away! Gurrrrrrr!

Linda, that Tori is a funny lady, isn’t she? Sun broiled tomatoes? LOL

Sunny, “Here Come the Hot August Nights”??? Sounds like a country hit tune to me!

meb…..can you tell us—did your husband get that he was seeking? I hope so! It’s so tough finding work these days.

Bellepheron, hope your broken ankle is better soon. I had one once too. Wore a big old plaster cast up to my knee. One day I went to our local outlet mall, and while walking through a grassy median on the parking lot, a bee flew up my cast and stung me!!!! And I can tell you that old saying that a bee can only sting you one time is not true! I made my hubby go in one of the stores and get a wire hanger and straighten it out so he could stick it up that cast and fish that bee out a.s.a.p.!!! We must have been a sight!!

Good night, all you Bloomrs out there! Love ya!

The king helped us tie the knot. I’m afraid I lost patience/faith with Tori’s new ministry of hooking me up with a Gaither single = /

And good to read Joy is doing better, dare I write ‘so well,’ all things considered, kidpyramid! If you had shared about this earlier, I’m sure many of us here would’ve considered it a priviledge, an honor, to have been able to have also prayed for her and her family early on = )

She and her mom are a part of my jazzercise group. In early May she was hit by a car and has spent the entire summer in the hospital having surgery and recovering. She even spent her birthday in the hospital. She was not expected to survive to the hospital. She had a brain injury and a few broken bones. And now she is home, using a walker, speaking and eating on her own. She lost her entire summer and is happy to be able to go back to school.

When I consider moaning about summer being lost I think of Joy.

We could pick a date and time, each make ourselves a mojito, put our feet up and do a long-distance toast to each other,…then bottoms up!

Also in July:
County Fair (I’m a Superintendent so long, hot, humid days.
I’m fitting in my JOB every spare minute I’m not doing other stuff!
Tahoe for my sister’s wedding on the side of a flippin’ mountain (so stress!).
New York for a Girl Scout conference.

Came in to Madison airport last night, drove 2 1/2 hours home, work today and tomorrow a.m. then BACK to Madison airport to pick up daughter and grandsons, here for most of August.

I’m too tired for a do-over!!! THen a friend says “Well, we’re not 25 anymore.” (Thanks for THAT reminder!)

So let’s hold each other accountable ladies: some relaxation and FUN in August, OK?!?!?

June: To-do lists cross-referenced to other to-do lists because I knew what summer had in store.
Chaperoned 18 teens to a state conference.
Came back and started intense fair prep.
July: Girl Scout Day Camps to help plan and lead.

Yes,Tori in most ways I’d like my summer back as well but at this point I sure wouldn’t mind a little “winter” in my life!!
I know how fustrating it is to have a we-don’t-know-what-caused-it injury–partly cause alot of times our good ol boy docters don’t believe you . “Well,I don’t know why nothings showing up on film but darn it I HURT!!” Dr. usually looks at me over the rim of his glasses as if to say “not really sorry but thanks for coming in”. I hope your quest to find a perminant cure will be a fruitful one.

What’s this about your folks celebrating their 73rd wedding anniversary, sweet Tori? Amazing would be a good word here. Bless their sweet hearts.

I am so sorry you lost much of this summer to pain, Tori. Like LindaB, I pray it nevers comes back. Forget the jungle-hop, sweetie, but get out and enjoy the rest of August. In fact, a trip down to South Carolina is highly recommended….and bring those cd’s, please. I am so excited about Russ’ new cd’s! Oh dear, but I’d sure love to hug your neck, too!!!

May really sucked for you, Tori! I hope that back pain pinched nerve thing never comes back! That was a killer…….well, a “May” killer anyway.

It’s been hot as Hades here too—-in Michigan, for heaven’s sakes! But I’m not ready to apologize to Al Gore yet——-besides, he’s too busy right now trying to cool Tipper down as she calls her attorney! It may be getting hotter in the Gore household, but I think the global warming thing has been debunked by real science now………enough to satisfy me, anyway. Ya know, when you get my age, you get a broader prospective on things, and I can remember much hotter summers from years ago—–specifically the summer of 1984. It was around 103 degrees every day for a long time. That’s unusual for Michigan. But enough about the weather.

I hear ya ’bout the bath taking after watering the flowers and garden. But I’ve found a way around that one——my 8 year old granddaughter does it for 25 cents while I stay nice and cool indoors! What a bargain! (I do wave at her through the window! I try to make it a “fun” thing we do together! LOL)

It has been HOT in Alabama as well. Sure makes me all the more thankful for God’s grace and knowing that Heaven will be my eternal home and not that other place.

I hope you and the family will be able to get away, even if only for a brief time, before school gears back up again.

LOL I’m VERY thankful to have a job but I’m like you – I don’t feel like I’ve had a summer either. I got out in June, had to have the crown put on my tooth, spent half a week in computer training for the school, and then had to prepare the house and cook and clean for the family reunion. July rolls around and I think I’ll finally rest but the stress of the job caught up with me and the intolerable heat from outdoors made it worse! I end up getting too hot and was sick for a week. Then by the time I was healing from that, back to the school for another half week of computer training! GRRR! I’ve finally got a little R&R since the 16th when I took off for Asheville to see the Vocal Band. And now it’s August again – the dreaded month for teachers LOL. So I’m with you Tori! Let’s try and find that time machine together. ;)

A do-over would be great, especially for my 10 year old who according to her has had the “worst summer of her life”. We’ve spent the summer living with my parents while Dean tries to find a new job. He is currently en route to Reno NV for an interview in Truckee CA and then hopefully on to Seattle WA for another interview. Needless to say it hasn’t been much for vacations or other fun things and all of our stuff being packed in storage has made for it’s challenges too.

Enjoy your August – maybe it will cool off a little bit too. :-)
