Great post, really sums up the feelings of all of us of a certain age whose parents are inexorably aging. My mother-in-law is in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s, and my father-in-law’s heart is broken that they are separated for the first time in 62 years. My dad died at 92 a few years ago but my mom, now 89, seems to go on forever, and it is hard to imagine her ever not being there, especially when I talk to her on the phone and just hear her voice and don’t see what age has done to her physical body. How could she ever not be there?

It’s hard, isn’t it? Your post left in me in tears.

This could be an day out of my life except my waves and goodbyes are usually done just before I go through the gate at the airport.

I lost my mom almost 2 yrs ago, and now saying goodbye to my dad is gut wrenching as I know he now has that long drive back home alone.

wonderful poignant read – thank you.

It’s nice that Madi wanted to spend time with Grandparents . Your Mom sounds like a hoot!! – much like my 95 y/o neighbor ( she was a Russ fan and said that “He can park his shoes under my bed anytime” ) I just loved her !

I hope you get good news from Dr. Phil soon ! That way Russ won’t have to get all mean and nasty with those hedgeclippers. ( We need a picture of that – can that sweet, angelic hubby of yours make a really mean face ??- while holding the trusty power tool of course )

Enjoy your wireless , high speed internet! And especially enjoy the last days with the girls before school starts. Barbara Lloyd is right, it’s POOF and off to college!

But his introverted, independent, streak made it difficult at times. Ok, I jest. He was so easy to please, would tell us truthfully what he wanted and did not want, and was just soooo appreciated everywhere he sang. And boy, does he love his wife! and Girls!, but not the dogs and Penelope! l o l . Ok, I exaggerate again. He actually said he is doing better with his 4 legged family members.

And now, for you it is back to schedules, lunches, car pooling, homework… I don’t miss those chores even a little. But I do miss other things about that period in my life. Every phase of life can be sweet, if we let it be.

I was getting seriously concerned when I returned from seeing Signature Sound and there was no new blog! LOL I was beginning to think we may have to call missing persons or something. ;)

Glad that you had a great trip. Just don’t mention that 6-letter word please! You know – S-C-H-O-O-L! I have to return Monday and get that classroom cleaned, shined and ready for open house Tuesday night. It isn’t so bad once I actually get all 23 computers uncovered and discover that the 5 computers that I put on the list to get fixed over the summer are still totally messed up. I always dream I’ll get a class that only has 17 students so it will work out but I’m never that lucky and I cannot let kids use my computer. I always get a full house. LOL Guess that is the curse of being a good business teacher – at least that is what the parents tell me. LOL

Welcome home, rest up and then hit us with your best shot! :)

I’ve been busy trying to make visitors feel at home and anxious to come back again.

But it’s sure nice to go home and be with mom and dad….and it’s wonderful that it was Madi’s idea.

Now it’s back to school: homework, lunches, early breakfasts, and working around all of the schedules. But don’t complain, Sweet Pea…..these years are going quickly….it’s p-o-o-f and they are off to college.

But, for now, welcome home!
